They’re always a huge hit, super easy to put together and when prepared properly, they look incredible. That’s right, I’m talking about a cheese board. And the next time you have some people over, make sure yours is first rate by following these simple 5 tips.
Presentation. Presentation. Presentation.
Putting a cheese board together is easy but it shouldn’t look that way. Arrange the cheese facing out, rind in the back for a prettier presentation. And if you want it to be as elegant and charming as possible, be sure to use a wooden cheese board or wooden serving board to host your cheeses. Not only will this make it easier to prepare, carry and serve, it will look amazing. Plus, you’ll find many more uses for your wooden cheese board after your party.
Monitor Your Temps
Unless you are heating up a specific cheese, it’s best to keep your cheeses at room temperature and not cold right from the fridge. It’s recommended to take them out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before serving. Don’t take them out too early or your hard cheeses may get too soft.
Stay Sharp
It’s important to make sure you have the right knives on your board for your cheeses. You’ll want a particular knife for soft cheeses, a sharper knife for hard cheeses and if your serving a particularly crumbly or smelly cheese, it’s always a good idea to give that cheese its own knife or serving piece.
Mix It Up
There’s nothing wrong with a good hearty sharp cheddar but your board isn’t going to be very exciting if that’s the only fromage being offered. Adding different kinds of cheeses with various shapes, colors and textures will make your cheese board sing. And with a variety of flavors, ranging from mild to strong, you’ll have a better chance of pleasing every pallet.
Add Extras
Just because it’s a cheese board doesn’t mean it should only have cheese. Adding fruit, jams, olives, meats, and other perfect pairings will keep the board interesting and delicious. And don’t forget the crackers!
